Job Title: Tool Design Engineer

Job Description:

Design tooling for the implementation of a variety of machining and manufacturing operations in support of applying LPB to improve the fatigue and/or stress corrosion performance of components. Design of both component processing LPB tools and a wide variety of component holding fixtures will be required. Responsibilities include developing tooling concepts, material selection, and basic stress analysis following existing design methods for hydraulic-mechanical tooling to be used in CNC machine and robotic applications. CNC programming of tool paths will be created to position the tools for surface enhancement processing on both machine tools and robots. Management of application development projects, including design of tooling, developing processing parameters, and validating testing interacting with customers, design, shop and laboratory groups may be required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Research and analyze tooling system requirements, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
  • Develop and define final tooling requirements
  • Create and maintain tooling development project plans, including costs and schedules
  • Plan and direct personnel in fabrication of LPB tooling and the development of methods and processing procedures
  • Direct and coordinate fabrication and installation of tooling to ensure systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications
  • Develop operation, maintenance, and repair procedures to obtain optimum utilization of tooling and equipment
  • Design tooling to interface with machines, hardware, and software
  • Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions and optimize performance
  • Provide timely technical and schedule inputs for status reports, proposals, and quotations
  • Oversee the implementation of manufacturing processing
  • Other engineering and documentation needs of the business as deemed necessary

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree (or equivalent related experience) in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering or related field
  • Experience as a Tool Design Engineer with related customer interactions highly desirable
  • Experience in automotive, biomedical, aerospace, turbo-machinery, power generation, or nuclear industries is desirable 
  • Facility with Solid Works and SURFCAM is highly desirable
  • Candidates must possess a strong desire to work in a highly dynamic, fast growth environment
  • Must be a US citizen per government contract regulations
  • All potential candidates must successfully pass a written aptitude test

Job Title: Laboratory Technician - Materials Testing

Job Description:

Lambda is seeking an entry-level first shift technician for sample preparation, strain gaging, electropolishing, x-ray diffraction measurement, mechanical testing and general lab support. This position is located at our materials testing facility in Fairfax, Ohio. 

Job Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in engineering, physics or chemistry
  • Previous experience in any of the following areas highly desirable:
    • X-Ray Diffraction
    • Mechanical Testing
    • Strain Gaging
    • Electropolishing
    • Electroplating
  • Must be willing to take on multiple assignments, prioritize and complete on schedule
  • Training provided
